Strong personality and elegant at the nose with a predominance of yellow fruit, citrus and tropical notes: peaches, mangoes, white grapefruit and pineapple. Followed by notes of yellow and white flowers such as broom, dandelion, hawthorn and lemon blossom. On the final more decisive hints: thyme, hay and saffron.

Intense in the mouth, with a pleasant and refreshing acidity that lasts for a long time.

Umbria the green heart of Italy, a region of black truffles, legumes, olives and the rare Sagrantino grape.

The name Sagrantino hints at the religious origins of this wine whose vines were introduced to Umbria by the followers of St Francis of Assisi in the 15th Century

The monks first cultivated this grape as a communal passito that was first recognised for its quality in 1925, and designated in 1979 a DOC in Montefalco DOC in 1979 and ultimately a DOCG in 1992

The story of the Briziarelli winery began over 100 years ago at the turn of the 20th Century with the planting of olive groves and vines by philanthropist and entrepreneur Pio Briziarelli

The vines prosper in rich soils complimented by from the valley humidity and a cooling breeze optimise vine health and quality

The prized Sagrantino grapes are exalted in vines at the upper hill levels where the microclimate is supplemented by greater aeration

Sustainability is central to Briziarelli production techniques adheres to the Agroambiente Program in the reduction of chemical and synthetic elements.

Rainwater is recovered by a closed circuit system and solar energy utilised to meet as much of the possible the electrical needs of the estate.

The modern winery honours its traditions crafting wines from hand harvested grapes including Sangiovese, Sagrantino, Trebbiano Spoletino and Chardonnay.
